Children’s Minister, Tim Loughton has held a series of roundtable events over 23rd and 24th May, 4 in total: for the voluntary and community sector, with businesses, with young people and with Local Authorities. CHYPS was represented at the event alongside representatives from ADCS, Solace and the LGA.
We discussed three discussion papers and these can be downloaded below;
A series of discussion papers is being developed in partnership with experts from the youth sector following thePositive for YouthSummit that took place on 9 March 2011. Through these papers the DfE wants to promote a public debate on the issues that will be shape a new Government policy statement on young people and their services.
They are discussion papers and not final statements of Government policy.
The DfE hopes to have about 10 policy notes in total on various subjects in the public domain by the time CHYPS holds its Youth Policy Seminar on 16th June. We will have representation from the DfE at the seminar focussing on the local delivery issues.
You will be able to find all thediscussion papers at www.education.gov.uk/positiveforyouth. They will be on this site shortly – but in the meantime visit the CHYPS website for the 3 papers discussed at the LA roundtable.
The Government wants comments and views on these papers to help to inform the development of the new youth policy statement that will be produced later this year.
